Luna, together with her sister Stella, was picked up after an emergency call at a now closed Hotel Resort in Slovakia.
They were looking for shelters for a large number of lions and tigers, which were housed next to the hotel. The permit to keep the animals had not been renewed and all animals had to leave before the end of 2021.
Since lions are group animals, Luna and Remy were paired after a quiet introduction.
It was a bit exciting whether Luna could move to South Africa, because there were signs of heart problems. Fortunately, after extensive medical examination, it became clear that she was completely healthy and could make the big trip together with Remy. Luna moved to The Lions Foundation together with Remy in March 2024.
