Akilla’s story is special. She grew up as a small cub at a private home in France. One fine day, she escaped, went to investigate, or accidentally walked out the window.
She then walked in the gutters, in the middle of a residential area. This has been widely in the news. She was then confiscated and placed in a zoo, from which she was stolen (stolen back) after two days. After a few months, Akilla came to Stichting Leeuw.
She first quarantined for a while. She likes to sit high and hidden, like a real panther. People she doesn’t know well, she finds a bit exciting. She’s quite shy. She can also play and chat, although she mainly shows this behaviour to the caretakers. She is also a real diva and she can look very haughty.
